26-year-old actor Matt Smith was anointed as the eleventh Doctor Who this week. If you were in charge of casting, who would you cast as your ideal Doctor and why?

Do I have to be in charge of casting? I'd like to play the Doctor!

Of course, I am American and 48, whilst Davies and Company are going younger and younger for the role.

So keeping the younger theme going, let's cast Rupert Grint, once Harry Potter has ended. He's got the right energy.
